French Class Formats

At Ma Classe! programs can be available under three different formats:

• Group classes (4-6 students or up to 8 for Play & Learn French)

• Semi-private sessions (2 or 3 students)

• One-on-one sessions (1:1)

Programs that aim to teach French to young beginners or intermediate students using a communicative/interactive approach (Discover French, Play & Learn French) only take place in small groups with at least 2 students (typically siblings) and ideally 3-6 students. Our Core French program is offered in the three formats because it can include homework support for students enrolled in Core French at school as well as interactive teaching (the focus is on oral skills); at this point, the grade 7-8 level takes place in semi-private or one-on-one. Finally, the one-on-one format is strongly recommended for French Immersion students who experience difficulties learning French at school; however, the semi-private format can be considered if students have a similar level of French and do not experience major difficulties in class: the session will be then rather spent on developing/sharpening language skills and vocabulary enrichment. Please refer to the chart below for a full summary.
