Free resources to learn French online

A selection of audio-visual flashcards to learn and practice basic French vocabulary with your child. Feel free to browse the left menu to see what is available and select a topic. You are also welcomed to suggest corrections or additions to an existing resource.

Our goals

  • Build and maintain a convenient platform for parents and educators to help children learn or consolidate their knowledge of basic French vocabulary online.
  • These audio-visual resources will consist of flashcards, dictations, quizzes, verb conjugators and memory trainers. They will also provide samples of the resources that we use in our live Zoom session and the homework plan
  • They are primarily aimed at young beginners from SK to 4 in Core French, but the dictations and memory trainers may also be suitable to students enrolled in the Early French Immersion curriculum (SK-1)
  • This platform is a collaborative effort of our team and other French teachers to address some of the most common topics covered in FSL classes for children.
  • These resources should by no means be considered as a viable alternative to an online French course but rather be used as a supplementary tool to review the vocabulary within a unit
  • We aim to add at least one new resource on a weekly basis
